Breaker One, Breaker One

Luke Duke on the CB

The Dukes PDF Print E-mail

Luke Duke (Tom Wopat)
Ex-marine and oldest of the three cousins, Luke was often the one that thought of how to get everyone out of trouble. Probably the more introverted of the two boys, Luke tended to approach a situation a little more conservatively. Didn't drive the General Lee as much as Bo did, but when he did, Rosco would have been better off just staying at his speedtrap instead of chasing after him. He has black hair and blue eyes and was often seen wearing a blue and white plaid shirt and jeans. Quite lucky with the women, but had only a couple emotionally serious relationships. His CB handle: Lost Sheep #1.

Bo Duke (John Schneider)
Youngest of the three Duke cousins, Bo never intentionally brought trouble about (it was usually a joint effort with Luke). More extroverted than Luke, Bo was ready to jump right into a situation without thinking first. Drove the General Lee so much that one would think he was born in it, and again, Rosco would have been better off just staying in the speedtrap. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and was often seen wearing a yellow shirt with a blue t-shirt underneath and jeans. No doubt he liked girls and seemed to be falling in love every week, but it's not known if any relationship was emotionally serious for him.
His CB handle: Lost Sheep #2.

Daisy Duke (Catherine Bach)
Miss Daisy Duke worked as a waitress at the Boar's Nest (owned by Boss Hogg) but aspired to better things. Seemed to be the only character who had a change of clothes, but the outfits usually consisted of either short-shorts and tank top, jeans and a flannel shirt or a dress. Had two vehicles during the course of the series. First was a yellow and black 1971 Plymouth RoadRunner (which metamorphed into a Plymouth Satellite in some episodes!) and then after the car was driven off a cliff by Bo and Luke, she received a white 1980 Jeep CJ7 with "Dixie" on the side of the hood and doors. Also went through a change in CB handles too: Country Cousin, Pretty Maiden, Bo Peep.

Jesse Duke (Denver Pyle)
The Duke patriarch. Said to have had all ten commandments under his long johns (according to the balladeer) and his word was law. A widower, he often spoke that if he didn't have Bo, Luke and Daisy around, he wasn't sure what he would have done after his wife passed on. He raised his nephews and niece with a lot of love, a little of the bible, and plenty of common sense. Often seen wearing faded denim overalls, a beige shirt, and red hunting cap. He drove a white 1975 Ford F-150 pick up truck which received it's fair share of dents and dings from the boys if General Lee was out of commission. His CB handle: Shepherd

Coy Duke (Byron Cherry)
An obvious replacement for Bo, was another blond-haired cousin who moved to Uncle Jesse's farm along with cousin Vance after Bo and Luke left Hazzard to join the NASCAR circuit. The character proved to be unpopular with fans and was written out of the show after 18 episodes. Following John Schneider and Tom Wopat's return to the series, Coy, along with cousin Vance, left to tend to a sick relative, never to be mentioned again.

Vance Duke (Christopher Mayer)
Vance came onto The Dukes of Hazzard when the original Dukes, Bo and Luke, supposedly joined the Nascar circuit during season 5. The entire issue was over a contract dispute between the actors and the producers, but nonetheless the storyline continued. The character proved to be unpopular with fans and was written out of the show after 18 episodes.
